I have been an employee of Shelby County Schools for the past 21 years. My time in this system has been spent teaching 2nd, 3rd, & 4th graders. Five and a half years ago, I was given the opportunity to leave my classroom position to become a Curriculum Technology Trainer (formerly known as Curriculum Technology Specialist). The purpose of this position is to train teachers to use the latest trends in technology to improve their classroom instruction. I have worked with multitudes of teachers and students since taking this position. It has been rewarding to watch teachers grow and become more comfortable as they use technology more and more frequently in their classrooms. I have, personally, learned many new instructional techniques in my quest to learn all I can about technology in education so that I can share this information with others. I work with very many talented people who make the job great!
Outside of the work environment, I enjoy spending time with my family. Our favorite thing to do is to go to the beach. I look forward to every summer so that I can spend time out on the sand in the sun reading the latest great novel! I enjoy reading and listening to music of all kinds. Of course, I am always looking for new ways to use technology to make my life easier at home and at work!
